DesignGuide was founded in 2004 by architect Stephen Slan and real estate & media expert Quentin Foster. Their vision was to create a high quality visually based online environment for the building and design industry.

Designguide Professional Directory
The platforms premise was to allow design professional firms the ability to showcase their work through their websites, which were just beginning to emerge. A visual yellow pages where firms were listed by location and specialization. Today, the directory includes 8,000 firms across the United States

The Designguide Building Products Guide
The other key feature was a well organized and robust building products resource where manufacturers were able to display their building products using quality images and showing how their products were actually used in the built environment. This was a first in the industry. An introduction of a standardized Profile, allowed users an apple to apple comparison of similar products or services. Technical downloadable information was later added, so to become a one stop shop for building professionals and an everyday used professional tool.

News
The company also established a series of newsletters that focuses on and pulls together the building and design community and include: Innovations Innovative People, Projects + Products, the Connect Industry News + Featured Members, CEU Center Continuing Education Courses, Green+ a Green + Sustainable Newsletter, ShowTime Industry Conventions + Exhibitions and the ever popular MovieHouse A Collection of Building + Design Movies, DG’s version of Youtube for videos with all things to do with building and design.
